Muslim-friendly tourism destinations are not only the top choice among Muslim travelers but also attract the interest of non-Muslim tourists. The growing interest in these destinations has created opportunities for tourism operators in Malaysia to offer Muslim-friendly services, including cultural tourism-oriented homestay programs. This potential can contribute to the growth of Malaysia's tourism industry while strengthening the country's position as a preferred destination for travelers. However, guidelines for Muslim-friendly accommodation need to be developed to enable operators to improve their offerings to align with Muslim-friendly principles. Thus, this study aims to explore the criteria for Muslim-friendly tourism accommodations implemented at Kampungstay Desa Murni, Pahang. The study is still in its early phases and is expected to contribute to Islamic tourism literature, particularly in developing a conceptual framework for Muslim-friendly accommodation criteria. The proposed data collection technique involves interviews with operators to obtain detailed insights into three main elements: privacy and security, facilities and environment, and cleanliness and comfort. The findings of this study aim to develop a conceptual framework for Muslim-friendly tourist accommodation criteria for homestay experience programs in Malaysia. This framework will be highly beneficial for industry players as a benchmark for planning strategies, thereby supporting Islamic tourism in Malaysia.
